CHRISTMAS CLASSIC 2018

The last hit of 2018 had the women of the LPRT competing in this 27th annual

family-vibe event at SportFit Total Fitness in Laurel, Maryland.

Closing out the year in Maryland is always special for us. Racquetball here is a serious endeavor for the big family of players at SportFit Total Fitness. Fiercely competitive, these courts are also filled with support, encouragement and tons of laughs and smiles. We were very grateful to have ended our 2018 with family.

Alexandra Herrera (Mexico) ended 2018 proving she solidly belongs in the top of the LPRT rankings. She is quietly playing at a high level and her consistency put her in the final championship match of the year. Her performance in Maryland didn't end with a win over Paola, but it did push her into the #3 position in the LPRT Rankings.

 Semifinalists

Rhonda Rajsich (USA) ends 2018 with her second semifinal appearance of the season. For Rhonda, this marks the 53rd time she ended a professional tour event in the semifinal round. To put things in perspective for how great her career has been, she has ended more professional events in the finals than in the semifinals. Rajsich rounds out 2018 in the #6 spot in the LPRT rankings.

• Michelle De La Rosa (USA) found herself in her second career semifinal appearance in Maryland. Michelle has recently re-dedicated herself to playing on the LPRT tour after starting a family with husband Daniel De La Rosa. Daniel is the #3 ranked men's professional in the world.

 Quarterfinalists

• Carla Muñoz (Chile): Carla ended 2018 by making her 9th career professional quarterfinal. She is currently a full-time MBA student at Colorado State University - Pueblo while managing to tour professionally full-time.

• Maria Jose Vargas (Argentina): Maria rounds out the year securing the #4 spot on the LPRT Rankings with her quarterfinal finish in Maryland.

DEDICATED TALENT

The tour is experiencing a burst of interest from some of the most talented young players on the planet. Competing on the LPRT is like nothing else for these players because for professionals, it's all about experience and growth. Consistency at such a high level of play is the key they all are working towards. Some of these players make waves right away while some are dedicated to learning how good they can be.

 LPRT Doubles

Christmas Classic Doubles Champions: Paola Longoria (left), Kelani Bailey Lawrence

Paola Longoria teamed up with Kelani Bailey Lawrence when her regular doubles partner, Samantha Salas ran into travel issues that prevented her from making the event. For Kelani, stepping in provided her with her first professional career win. For Paola, it was her 5th doubles title this season and her 37th career title in doubles.

2018 Christmas Classic Doubles Finalists: Frederîque Lambert (left), Alexandra Herrera

Alexandra Herrera (Mexico) and Frederîque Lambert (Canada) was a team that was made at the very top of the rankings. Herrera kept her trend of making doubles finals, having been in all five finals so far this season. Interesting fact: For both Lambert and Herrera, this final marks career doubles final number 15 for both of these players.
